PRESS PLAY: en el camino otra vez
"(Hunt’s “Press Play” Series) is an impromptu social commentary on the convergence of art and technology. These enticing images are balanced between narrative and abstract, each touting the technological symbol for 'Play.' At first glance, the viewer is compelled to participate in reaction to the emblem centered on the image. The series works particularly well on the Internet where the partaker is more likely to actually press play expecting a video to begin. The participant becomes an involuntary contributor of their own experience as their initial expectations still remain, leaving only a subconscious glimpse of what they believe they would see next. The series excels as both clever and dangerously close to frustrating. As one person might feel irritated and abandoned another may be inspired to reflect on the bridge between the still image and the moving image. The pieces that are the most effective arouse the observer to draw upon their own narrative enthusing them to press play on reverie."
